Altered Earth: Poetic Perspectives
Poster Series
Academic
2025
This project explores how expressive typography could move beyond simply presenting information and instead reflect ideas that connect individuals together. Through an experimental poster series promoting poetry readings at the UC’s Langsam Library, featuring Orchid Tierney, Hussain Ahmed, and Heid E. Erdrich, I developed visuals through a hands-on process. Manipulating, layering, and reproducing type and imagery, using physical texture and imperfections.
Although their backgrounds and perspectives are distinct, all three poets explore identity and what it means to carry that identity through distance, displacement, and separation. Their work connects people to land, memory, culture, migration, and environmental change. Altered Earth brings those shared themes together through fragmented typography and a consistent visual language, while giving each poster its own character.
